Time to redesign bins at park? Even monkeys can open them easily
STOMPer Elson often sees monkeys opening the bins at Telok Blangah Hill Park and digging through the rubbish. The STOMPer feels the bins should be redesigned so that they are not easily opened.
Said the STOMPer:
"Outdated design of rubbish bin.
"From the pictures, you can see that monkeys know how to open the bin. (They are getting smarter than NPark officials).
"The National Parks Board should look into improving the bins at the all the parks.
"This happens every day in Telok Blangah Hill Park.
"The photos were taken on 25 Jan 2012, at about 4pm.
"I have seen it many times and it's NOT just one but many bins in the said park which are opened by those monkeys."

Why not consider the below monkey-proof bins that are made of wood-simulating recycled plastics, & come in various subdued colours ? Such bins are used at public places & nature reserves (eg. Kruger National Park) in South Africa to deter scavenging baboons.
