No hygiene lapses at sushi joint, but operators reminded to screen ingredients carefully: NEA

NEA and AVA officers have reminded a sushi joint to screen its ingredients more carefully, and that it is the operators responsibility to serve clean and hygienic food to their customers. This was in response to a post by STOMPer Saysushi, who found a worm in the sushi she had bought.

An NEA spokesperson said:

"We refer to the STOMP posting made on 14th January, 'There’s a worm in my sushi'.

"The sushi sold at the Umi Sushi outlet located at Eunos MRT #01-12 is prepared in a licensed factory.

"Checks at the outlet and the factory by NEA and AVA did not uncover any hygiene lapses.

"AVA has also examined the ingredients used and found them free of foreign matter.

"We have asked the operators to screen their ingredients more carefully and reminded them of their responsibility to serve clean and hygienic food to their customers.

"We thank STOMPer Saysushi for the feedback."
