Several STOMPers have reported flooding in various parts of Singapore such as Buangkok, Hougang, Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Timah and Jurong today (Jan 21). This was the result of massive rainfall that occurred over these areas.
STOMPer gaslia wrote:
“Heavy rainfall causing partial flood.
“Water was rushing out from a construction site along a cross junction opposite Buangkok MRT station, causing a partial flood there."
According to STOMPer JoannaLawan, the water levels at Hougang reached the knee-level of a toddler:
"In my 9-year stay at Hougang Avenue 8, this is the first time I'm seeing a flood at this stairs!
"It was raining for less than 10 minutes and then, this was it!
"The drains were also covered and many residents had to walk a very big round through another block before they can reach their block!
"The flood was so high that it reached the knee of a toddler!
The heavy rainfall affected STOMPer stomperSlash while on his way home in Jurong, who wrote:
"Was walking back home and it was raining cats and dogs.
"Unfortunately, it was flooded in my neighbour hood which is around jurong. we were soaked , pants and slippers were all wet!"
STOMPer Shi-Hui wrote:
"Many roads, especially at Ang Mo Kio and Hougang, were flooded.
"Many traffic lights were spoiled -- I was unable to get pictures of it as the car I was in was driving and the rain was too big.
"Corridors under the HDB flats were all flooded with water up to a certain level.
STOMPer Shawn was doing his Chinese New Year shopping when water seeped into the supermarket he was in:
"Floods strike the NTUC Fairprice supermarket this afternoon (Jan 21) while I was shopping for Chinese New Year drinks.
"Floods hit the pallet of drinks inside the supermarket."
STOMPer Shawn lamented the bad weather when he wrote:
"Heavy rain at the Thomson area.
"On Saturday (Jan 21), there was a heavy rain when I was out.
"It was so heavy that I was soaking wet by the time I reached home.
"Finally cool weather but so cold, so wet!
"Why is Singapore weather so bad?"
Meanwhile, a STOMPer couldn’t get to the lift landing of a HDB flat in Ang Mo Kio as it was flooded while another STOMPer came across a road in Bukit Timah which has been flooded by heavy rainfall.
