These auspicious fish aren't real -- they're actually paintings

The fish has always been an auspicious symbol for abundance in Chinese culture. Well, there is a way to keep fish, but not need to take care of them. STOMPer YearYearGotFish shares Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori's realistic fish paintings.

Said the STOMPer:

"Riusuke Fukahori, a Japanese artist, paints such realistic goldfish, you'd be forgiven if you thought they were real.

"Of course they don't move, but they're three-dimensional and their vivid colours are so life-like.

"One would even imagine them moving about in their little tanks.

"He paints the goldish and embeds them in layers of transparent resin, so they look like they're swimming.

"Patiently, he uses layers of cast resis and acrylic paint, building up his masterpiece, layer by layer. It's so complex and tedious I cannot imagine myself doing it.

"However, the end result is spectacular and so beautiful. Initially when I saw the photographs I thought they were real fish."
