The operator of the restaurant where a patron found a long centipede inside a noodle dish has been suspended for two weeks, says a spokesperson from NEA. The NEA found a cockroach infestation in the restaurant after being alerted by the report on STOMP.
In the incident, STOMPer LZW was about to tuck into his meal at a Korean eatery on Christmas eve when he spotted a long centipede in the noodles. The STOMPer also said the staff did not apologise.
The spokesperson from NEA says:
"We refer to the STOMP posting, “Christmas eve 'surprise': Patron finds long centipede inside noodle dish” on Dec 25 2011.
"Our recent investigation uncovered a cockroach infestation at the restaurant although no centipedes were found.
"We have taken enforcement action against the operator and instructed him to review the pest control regime in the eatery.
"As the operator has accumulated 18 demerit points in total, his licence will be suspended for two weeks.
"His food handlers are required to attend and pass the Basic Food Hygiene Course again before being allowed to return to work.
"We will place the restaurant under close scrutiny until we are satisfied with the improvement in their hygiene levels.
"We thank STOMPer LZW for the feedback."
