Singapore's 'number one magic duo', Magic Babe Ning and JC Sum, read 100 minds in under 1 minute at the Mind Heist held at Sinema Old School last weekend.

The Mind Heist was Singapore's first live-streamed magic event, allowing people worldwide to witness the event in real time.

These were some of the highlights of the Mind Heist:
- Reading the minds of participants as they thought of colours on a Rubik's Cube

- Describing a newspaper story chosen by a a group of 10 participants

- Extracting words from participants who thought of words from books

- Recreating a unique drawing that a group of participants put together

The duo are the first Singapore illusionists to be awarded the Merlin Awards from the International Magicians Society.

They have also been presented with the first Patrons of Magic award from the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 115 for their contributions to the Singapore magic scene.

I read about this 'trick' somewhere. And it turns out to be not as impressive as it look/sounds. The participants are given subjects to focus their thoughts on. So it's just a matter of probability calculations in a controlled environment. Not saying that it is easy, but definitely not as eye-brow raising as it seems.
