Bright flames light up the night sky: Could it be flaring?

Bright flames lit up the skies earlier this evening as seen by STOMPers Pran and Clarence, with the latter claiming that the flames is a result of flaring at a refinery in Malaysia.

STOMPer Clarence wrote:

“Malaysia’s Pasir Gudang refinery is doing its flaring, causing the sky to turn orange with big mushroom-like smoke in the air. “

STOMPer Pran wrote:

“Caught a video of a fire-like light that lit up the whole sky at 7.00pm tonight (Dec 29).”
