Leaky roof at Bukit Merah bridge: Slippery floor poses danger to pedestrians

STOMPer Mika says the floor of this interlink bridge in Bukit Merah gets wet and slippery whenever it rains, posing a danger to pedestrians there.

The STOMPer said:

"I'm a resident of Bukit Merah estate. Often, I do my grocery shopping at Bukit Merah NTUC, and would use this bridge.

"Many times, I noticed dirt and dust have accumulated at the side of the stairs, and the floor is especially slippery whenever it rains.

"I have also witnessed a few incidents of kids falling down along it, but I have never seen any cleaning done.

"During this rainy December, the situation has gotten worse. Rain water is seeping through from the roof, forming small puddles of water on the bridge. Still, nothing is being done.

"I have personally walked over to Bukit Merah Town Council but they told me that it's not within their scope.

"This interlink bridge is meant to provide greater convenience for the residents, but it's not even safe to use.

"It's no wonder some residents rather jaywalk, as it's much more dangerous to balance yourself on a slippery floor while carrying bags of grocery items."
