Many STOMPers have raised their concern and sounded the alarm about a photo of a naked teenage guy posted on Facebook. They told STOMP that the nude photo was posted by a Singaporean girl.
One of the STOMPers who wrote in was STOMPer Teo, who is also concerned about the rise in inappropriate online postings made by youths.
The 'Angry Bird' masking on the photo was done by the STOMPer.
STOMPer Teo said:
"I was on a popular social networking site recently and I came across a picture of a nude teenage boy.
"After the Downtown East killing incident, there was a series of teenagers doing weird things and posting them online.
"From tweeting O-level exams paper and smoking on the bus to slapping their parents and boasting it on the Internet, and showing off about being pregnant at 15 years old.
"I am very concerned about this because the picture is definitely not suitable for minors.
"Children are accessing the Internet at a younger age these day. What exactly are in the minds of teenagers nowadays?
"Are they too stressed out? Perhaps someone should do something about this before teenagers decide to boast about them committing suicide."
Other STOMPers were also concerned about the nude photo.
STOMPer LA said:
"Now Facebook has become more like a pornography website with people posting naked pictures of themselves exposing their private parts. This is so inappropriate.
STOMPer Simon wrote:
"I was just opening my Facebook when I saw this picture at the top of my wall.
"I was shocked to see such an explicit picture of a boy being posted online.
"People were commenting and sharing this photo like hot cakes! This picture was posted by a Singaporean girl online on Facebook. Is this what Singaporean teenagers are doing nowadays?"
Another STOMPer, My Pooreyes, said:
"Why are people posting pictures like this on social networking sites? Showing your privates? Attention-seeking much?"
STOMPer Loveblitz added:
"A naked picture was posted up online by a local citizen and it's really disheartening because many of her Facebook friends were asking her to remove it and she scolded them instead, telling them 'People share I share'.
"Also, she is loving all the attention she is receiving from the photo because many people were adding her and she is really proud of it.
"She claims that she found this photo uploaded somewhere else that's why she shares it but Facebook show that she was the one who posted the photo."
STOMPer Cecilia said:
"I was browsing the news feed of my Facebook when I came across this youth sharing the picture of a nude guy.
"I wonder what's happening to teenagers nowadays. They are too exposed to the Internet. Parents should guide their child more strictly to prevent such things from happening."
Another STOMPer wrote:
"I came across this naked man photo on Facebook news feed. I was extremely shocked when I saw that. What has Facebook become? What type of youngsters has the new generation become?
"I hope Facebook can do something about this."
