Body found near Jurong Island believed to be that of missing lorry driver

On Dec 10, a lorry rolled off a barge into the sea, off Pasir Panjang Terminal in the afternoon. Early this morning, a body, believed to be that of the missing lorry driver, was found floating off Jurong Island.

The 37-year-old lorry driver, Jason Lim Wei Kwan, had been employed by United Transware. The 10-tonne lorry was found on Sunday, Dec 11, near Sungai Pandan by divers, but they could not locate Mr Lim.

A body, believed to be that of Mr Lim's, was spotted floating off Jurong Island at 8.25am on Monday by a member of the public. Its identity is still being established.

From a Straits Times report, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is currently coordinating the search effort with help from the Police Coast Guard and the Naval Diving Unit from the Singapore Armed Forces.

The MPA has issued navigational broadcasts to vessels to keep clear of the area, and to report any sighting of the missing person.

Police said in a statement:

"Police confirmed that a body was found in the sea near Jurong Island today at about 8.25am.

"Police are investigating into the unnatural death."
