Tough on the outside, mushy inside: Athletes getting all emo during games

In the nature of competitive sports, athletes tend to display a tough exterior when they trudge out onto their respective battlefields. But they are only human as well, judging from these photos of sportspeople in emotional moments.

STOMPer HugeSportsFan, who came across these photos online, wrote:

"It's a humbling sight to see sporting legends such as Roger Federer shed tears because he lost a championship and Pele weep after he won the World Cup for his father.

"These emotional scenes builds a different connection between fans and athlete as compared to one that is an appreciation of raw talent and tenacity.

"I personally saw the devastation suffered by Samuel Kuffor and his Bayern Munich team mates after victory was snatched from their hands in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final -- moments like this add a human element to sports."
