@ philliper: "Why isn't the authorities catching them and put them to sleep?"

Actually, if you apply for certain jobs with the said authorities, one of the interview questions is: "Are you willing to put monkeys to sleep ?"

So don't assume what you propose isn't already occurring during the past decade. However, is that an ethical thing to do -- esp. since humans are the ones who had encroached upon the natural habitats of these macaques, as well as the ones who insensibly keep bringing food into areas where macaques are known to frequent ?

It's like showing off a dripping comb of honey in a wildflower field, & then blaming the ants & bees for being attracted to you.

I believe that there are signs n notices in the park to advise U not to bring food there, didn't U notice it? Don't blame the monkeys, blame the peoples who keeps feeding them n let them have no fears on Humans.

this is sad. Land reclamation is so advacned nowadays that these monkeys are losing their habitat or their food sources. Went to Seletar Reservoir area the other day. Numerous monkeys there..They see people and accost the cars and beg for food. some have babies with them. so sad. I think the present parks and forest dept should look into this . Its also for their protection.... Humans arent the only people worth saving .....On a lighter note: my daughter was at Bukit timah nature reserve and she was approached by a monkey who was after her snack. it just came for it and she had to leave and run.! Theyr getting very brave or maybe hungry and desperate.

That's why they don't encourage food at parks.
