Rain or shine, fans were not going to miss the performances of some of Asia's biggest stars at the Sundown Festival held at the Marina Promenade yesterday (Nov 26).
It was a colourful sea of umbrellas and raincoats as fans braved the intermittent rain to catch their favourite acts live on stage at the Sundown Festival 2011 held at the Singapore F1 Pit.
The musical extravaganza featured Japanese visual kei group ViVid; Korean cuties Teen Top; from Taiwan, dance king Show Luo, Hebe Tien, who is one-third of popular girl group S.H.E., and Zhang Yun Jing.
Despite the rain, fans who had been queuing since the night before dashed into the venue when the gates opened at 5.30pm for an optimal spot in front of the open air stage which featured the iconic Singapore Flyer in the background.
Hidden under hoods and umbrellas, their enthusiasm didn't waver, even when the rain poured down heavily.
The concert started proper just after 8pm to an energetic dragon dance and drum performance. The energy was kept high with the emcees who teased the crowd by tossing goodies to their outstretched hands.
Fan boards and light sticks bobbed up and down in the sea of fans jumping to the beat of the songs as ViVid, Teen Top and Show Luo busted their moves on stage. This segued into a soothing wave when Zhang Yun Jing sat down on a red chair with her guitar for one song during her performance.
Although each act was only slated to perform three to four songs, they ended up giving encores, much to the delight of their screaming fans. In addition to making sure each fan was entertained, stalls at the venue also served Asian street food from Korea, Japan and Taiwan, along with the de facto souvenir stand.
For those who still had the energy to groove on the dance floor, an aftershow party was held at popular nightspot, The Butter Factory, from 1030pm till late where the first 100 fans could enter for free, and possibly spot their idols on the dance floor.
