Necessity is the mother of invention: How Thais and their animals cope with flood

STOMPer Alex shares these photos depicting the inventive and resourceful ways the Thai people and their pets have resorted to in order to cope with the worst floods to hit their country in 50 years.

Makeshift jet skis, DIY doggie life vests and dining tables turned into motor boats -- these are some of the inventions that the Thai flood victims have created in their struggle with the floodwaters invading Bangkok.

News reports say that over 400 are dead, and 150,000 survivors have been evacuated to temporary shelters. The latest estimate of the total flood damage is $17 billion.

The Thai government calculates that it will take another month before the floodwaters will recede so that the Thai people may return to their homes and begin to put their lives together.

There's less complaint in thailand than the ankle deep 1hour "flood" in singapore.

I love how those thai people treat their pets so good, even though they are running for their life, they did not forget to bring their pets along, they are actually willing to risk their life to save those animals, that is true human and animal bond. God bless you thailand, i hope things get better. RIP to those who died in the flood.

I hope the pigs are all right, one thing i see good thing about thai people was they actually bring their pet to run as well , i remember reading the philippine people , few years ago , when flood occur, they throw their pet at home and fled themselves. The pet end up hunger to death but not because of drowning due to flood.
