Fire breaks out in Sungei Kadut factory

A fire has broken out at a factory in Sungei Kadut. Several STOMPers have reported seeing the smoke from various locations.

STOMPer poko was looking out of his window when he saw smoke, followed by flames, coming out of the industrial area.

The STOMPer wrote:

"I live in a point block, just across the factory, in Choa Chu Kang Crescent.

"I was just standing at my window when I saw the smoke coming out of the factory building.

"Smoke coming from that area is normal but when I saw flames, I knew something was wrong.

STOMPer Mel, who also saw the incident, wrote:

"Woke up at 1030hrs to the smell of burning plastic.

Went over to the balcony and saw flames and smoke coming up from the area of Sungei Kadut

"After snapping this picture, I heard sirens from what I presume are fire engines rushing to the scene. Hope nobody's injured."

STOMPer danielseah, who saw the smoke at a train station, wrote:

"I was at choa chu kang mrt station and i notice this black smoke keep rising and heard a passerby saying that a flat is on big fire."

STOMPer William Lim wrote in, claiming that the fire can be seen from as far as Bukit Panjang.

"A fire broke out at sungei Kadut area around 10am.

"The black smoke can be seen from as far out as residence in Chua Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang.

"A SCDF fire fighting team was seem rushing to the site around 1030am."

STOMPer sporespotted wrote:

"I was walking back to my room after taking a shower and spotted this thick smoke at 10.45am (Oct 30) at a forest near Choa Chu Kang street 51.

"Could it be a forest fire? if it is, action must be taken immediatly."

A SCDF spokesperson has since responded:

"At 1010hrs, SCDF was alerted to a fire at No.34 Sungei Kadut Loop. SCDF resources were dispatched and arrived at the incident site within 8 minutes. 

"A total of 8 water jets were used in the fire-fighting operation.

"The fire was brought under control within 1 hour and was fully extinguished within 2 hours of the initial call to SCDF.

"There were no reported injuries at the time of this news release.

"The cause of the fire is being investigated."

can see it from my house too ><
