Bangkok floods: Will Tiger Airways give refund for flights there?

STOMPer Mellissa asks if Tiger Airways would give refunds for flights that are heading to the flooded city of Bangkok. The STOMPer had earlier booked flights heading to the Thai capital on Nov 3.

The massive floods in Thailand have killed 320 people, mostly from drowning, and affected nearly 9 million more.

Said the STOMPer:

"The MFA has announced that all Singaporeans should not travel to Bangkok unless it is an essential flight and the Thai government has announced a state of emergency.

"However Tiger Airways is still unwilling to give us any advice.

"I have a flight on Nov 3, which is very soon, and I doubt there will be any improvement to the situation now.

"I understand that they are still flying to that destination, so a cancellation might be impossible but shouldn't they have an option for us to refund (I know it's only about $500 for two tickets) instead of us getting into Thailand while everyone is trying to get out?"

Air asia given a compensation
1.Guest(s) may change their travel dates up to 15 December 2011. Change fee and fare difference will be waived. New travel dates are subjected to seat availability. Black-out dates (period where changes cannot be made) are between 4 - 6 December 2011 and 9 - 12 December 2011.
2.Guest(s) may change their destination and change fee will be waived. Fare difference (if any) still applies but no refund will be made if the new fare is lower.
3. Guest(s) can keep the seat value as a credit shell (a system that retains the amount of money which can be used for later transactions). The credit shell will be valid for up to 3 months from the issued date. All normal terms and conditions apply.

TIGER AIRWAYS given the cheaper price to other destinations yet absorb the bangkok flight paid, meaning we still need to pay even for cheaper destinations, and just off 2 schedule of their bangkok flights.

I should have booked AirAsia at the first place.

Given the floods in Bangkok, we do understand that some passengers are concerned about flying there. For Tiger Airways’ passengers travelling to and from Bangkok from now till 08 Nov 2011 (inclusive), we currently offer two options:
1)Reschedule flights by up to 7 days from the initial travel date at no additional charge, or
2)Change the travel destination to any Tiger Airways' destination. Change fees will be waived, but passengers will have to top-up the difference in fares.

For assistance, please call our Call Centres. For details, visit www.tigerairways.com/sg/en/contact_us.php

i guess it all depends on the resources and expandable they paid for are refundable.like fel,taxes,publications,documenting....etc.if not, most probably they'll just let u choose another date or a partial refund.if u wanna full refund, they'll go broke. sometimes life is jus like shit.we can't help it.don hav to put urself in their shoes, jus try to knoe why they are doing it
