There's no stopping the Angry Birds, which have appeared on products like bras, cakes and even an exam question. It comes as no surprise then that Angry Birds lanterns are one of the best-sellers during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival.
According to a news report, sales of Angry Birds lanterns in George Town in Malaysia have been soaring during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Inspired by the popular game of the same name, the Angry Birds lanterns are being sold for between RM15 (S$6) to RM21.
Restaurant owner Leong Seng Yoon said 2000 out of the 5000 lanterns he sold recently were Angry Birds lanterns.
That's not all. Rovio, the creators of Angry Birds, is also getting in the Mid-Autumn mood by releasing a 'Mid-Autumn Festival' episode for Angry Birds Seasons to entertain the Chinese fans, as well as creating Angry Birds mooncakes.
STOMPer mooncake says:
"The Angry Birds phenomenon rages on!
"There's no end to Angry Birds merchandise; now they're even being sold as Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns.
"And with the release of the Mid-Autumn Festival episode for Angry Birds Seasons as well as themed mooncakes, you can munch on Angry Birds mooncakes while playing the game, then take you Angry Birds lantern for a walk under the full moon,"
Are all these 'Angry Birds' lanterns released by Rovio, or are some of them imitations ?
I think I would do more of a double-take, if there were 'bra' & 'exam question' lanterns on sale. Or maybe they already are on sale somewhere.
have you forgotten the Pokemon era, the Hello Kitty craze and Barney the purple dinosaur? Even Thomas and Friends?
The power of media and marketing... and in this case.. a game... hahaha...
