Hurray for technology: Handicapped dog can now run with four new prosthetic paws

Naki'o lost all four paws when he was abandoned as a puppy and got frozen in a puddle of ice. But now, thanks to technology and donations, he can enjoy life on his four new prosthetic paws.

STOMPer useitforgood shares:

"This story will break your heart.

"Naki'o was abandoned as a puppy when his owners left their foreclosed home.

"During the Nebraskan winter, he stepped into an icy puddle in the home's basement and got all four of his paws trapped in the freezing water.

"With severe frostbite, Naki'o lost the use of all four paws.

"Veterinary technician Christie Tomlinson adopted Naki'o, and organized a fundraiser to pay for his two back legs to be fitted with the prosthetics.

"He came through the procedure so well that Orthopets decided to donate the remaining two prosthetic legs.

"The prosthetics are designed to replicate the muscle and bone structure of the dog's natural limbs.

"He may look a little awkward and those prosthetics will never fully replace his old natural ones, but hey, this is as good as it can get.
