M1 service outage due to 'technical difficulty', says telco

Many M1 subscribers have been unable to make or receive calls since this morning due to a technical glitch in the network. According to an M1 spokesperson, the telco is experiencing technical difficulty on one of their customer management servers.

The M1 spokesperson told STOMP:

"We are experiencing technical difficulty on one of our customer management servers, and mobile services to some of our customers are temporarily disrupted.

"We would like to express our deep apologies for the inconvenience caused.

"Please be assured that we are putting all available resources to promptly rectify this issue."

Many STOMPers wrote in to complain about the inconvenience caused by this network problem and some even noted that their customer service hotline was down too.

STOMPer jojo said:

"What is M1 doing?

"The network has been down since this morning. Is anyone doing anything?

"I just hope they rectify the problem soon. I have a conference call meeting later."

STOMPer crazythunders commented:

"Something's wrong with the M1 service.

"There is no reception at all around the Woodlands area. My colleague who are subscribed to M1 can't call or receive calls. GPRS data can be accessed but it is very slow.

"I am not sure which other areas are affected too. I can't get through the M1 customer service hotline either."

Said STOMPer Simon:

"All my M1 friends are facing problems too. Can M1 please explain what's happening?

"Even the customer service hotline is down. Many of us have had no reception since 8am."

STOMPer nanette says:

"I've been trying to make phone calls but there is no reception...

"A few friends of mine are also having the same problem. I called the M1 customer service hotline but it seems like the number is not in use!

"What happened?!"

Said STOMPer littlesword:

"May I know what is wrong with M1?!

"The service has been down since this morning , and there is totally no service throughout the entire Upper Bukit Timah road and Teck Whye area.

"Can M1 please explain this?"

I hope IDA will punish m1 by making m1 compensate the customers. What IDA intend to is to fine m1 then we'll wonder where the money go to. Why not compensate the customers that suffered the inconvenience not fine m1 and money go government. That's has mostly happened in cases involving fines as punishments.

Stomperthrill, while we are at it. What u say makes sense. Yes everything happens once in awhile. There is no guarantee in anything. So what's your point here? Complain? Why not sue m1 for it's failure? Why not sue the government for the floods? All I am saying is to be more tolerant. Obviously u are one that can't tolerate little issues? Too pampered? Having too much of a good life? Everything must be smooth sailing for you? U get my point.

When we pay for our bills late, they make us suffer like barring our lines, immediate termination etc. Not negotiable!

But when they make mistakes, they just say, "Sorry technical mistake". Bcoz of today M1 technical glitch, i missed an important business call.

Well, my m1 line was fine all the way. Stop complaining. Technology will fail once in awhile. There is no such thing as 100 percent fail safe. Be more tolerant."

Yes. Yes. Also, Orchard Road will flood once in a while, trains also breakdown (also once in a while), roads do jam (gues what? Once in a while).

Yup. Yup. We should all be very tolerant, not complaint, not try to vote any political party out........

Then, we may not have need for Stomp here.
