The first thing that comes to mind when you think of shipping containers are cargo ships. STOMPer looselipssinkships came across 15 surprisingly amazing homes made out of shipping containers.

"There's the Infiniski's Manifesto House that is built in Curacavi, Chile. It uses pre-made materials like shipping containers and wooden pallets to create a new contemporary home.

"My favourite one is the Redondo Beach Container House. The award-winning De Maria Design’s luxury beachside house is made of eight prefabricated, recycled steel shipping containers.

"For those who want a home that is green and environmentally-friendly, there's the E-house. The E-House includes green features like energy efficient appliances, low-flow toilets, grid-tied solar panels, an electric car charger, an organic waste composting machine, a custom made recycling center and many more.

"Another environmentally-friendly house is the one designed by French architects, Claire Helene Drouin and Jean Marie Sanchez. It is green, spacious and depends mostly on natural light.

"Homes are not the only ones that can be built out of shipping containers. There are shops too.

"Like The Freitag Store in Zurich that is the 'World's Tallest Shipping Container Structure'. The store is 26 meters high.

"The most amazing one is the Illy Push button House built by Adam Kalkin. The house transforms as the push of a button.

"It's amazing how these architects have made shipping containers look so chic."
