A group of 600 students from ITE College East hit a national record of 1,033,992 skips in just one day at the 3M Skipping Challenge last Friday (Feb 18).

The group is also the largest to have taken part in the event.

The objective of the two-month fitness-cum-charity event is to garner 10,000 participants to hit a target of 2.1 million skips to earn health and safety from 3M, such as anti-slip mats and anti-bacterial sponge.

The items will be donated to the needy elderly in the South East district.

To those who look down on ITE Students,
ITE doesn't mean it is the end.. They still get to go to polytechnic and further their studies. Just wait and see. If next time your boss comes from ITE or your kids attend ITE training, Be ashame of yourself..

ITE students are doing a part to better serve the community.. What can you do? Sit there and use your keyboard skills commenting on something that you don't even think of doing. Well, I hope ITE students will skip and donate something to you when you're old.. :)

I'm an ITE student myself. Im proud to skip for ITE. haha ! ITE stands for IT's THE END? For those who critics, well just save ur breath. We, ITE students doesn't feel anything. well, we ITE students know the best. =)

I don't understand what is the big deal? 600 students skips 1,033,992 times; each student only need to skip 1723.32 times. What's the big deal? Any healthy teenager can do that!

Opps pardon me... I just realised the catch word is "ITE Students". we must understand their ability to perform. GOOD JOB. Keep skipping...

Why not you skip 1724 in a day than talking craps here. Oh btw, do you know its NOT 24hours that they skip. ^^

+ Rep to Jack Neo for tainting typical singaporeans thinking of "ITE = Its the end" sounds familiar? of course it is! this phrase was stated by hui ge in the "I am not stupid movie" and it has spreaded throughout singapore like a plague. Now the government is trying to change this but it will take a few decades to correct singaporean views on ITE students.....dont be surprised if you see people looking down on them....

everyone should be given a chance to study at their own pace. so what if it takes a few more years? if u r hardworking u will succeed. i heard of many who graduated from ite and are uni grads and successful people.

So what if skipped 1,033,992 ? ITE had came far from the olden days, but had not been given a chance to prove her worth. I sincerely believe that ITE students can indeed excel as well as those in the polytechnics given the right opportunity. Having good paper certificates doesn't make you a better person than the other. It just give a good start. Keep it up ITE...
