Suffering from kidney failure, STOMPer Zarinah is often tired and unwell after dialysis. It was on one such occasion that she met a kind taxi driver, who gave her a huge discount out of kindness.
His act has reminded Zarinah of other generous and kind-hearted taxi drivers who have shown her that Singaporeans are a kind and helpful lot.
Wishing to thank the driver who took her home and gave her a large concession on the fare, STOMPer Zarinah says:
"I would like to thank a taxi driver.
"Last night after dialysis at NKF Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, I was feeling so giddy thus I booked a taxi home to Tampines at 10:12pm with CityCab.
"As I was so tired and giddy, I can't remember the taxi's number (either 4740 or 4970).
"The taxi driver was a very friendly Chinese man.
"When i reached Tampines St 22, my taxi fare was $17.50 but the taxi driver only took $10 from me.
"Perhaps he knew that I was a patient with kidney failure.
"I didn't want to take it but he insisted.
"This is not the first time I have met a good taxi driver.
"Last December, I met a few nice taxi drivers too.
"One of them was Mr Chua Meng Liang, of taxi number SH8531K.
"Mr Chua helped to look around for me and my cousin at Tampines Giant after we left our marketing trolley inside his taxi.
"I am so glad to meet these nice Samaritans.
"Singaporeans are indeed a very helpful and caring population".
I would like to sincerely thanks all the taxi drivers who hd offer to give me discounts and make my journey home a pleasant one. Thank you.

We must never generalise based on one or two isolated bad incidents.
There are many kind souls in S'pore. Bless them.
