Save a bunny! Please don't buy one just because it is the year of rabbit

As the year of the rabbit approaches, we see more and more rabbits depicted everywhere. However, it is important to remember that though adorable, these furry animals are a commitment not to be taken lightly.

It is not surprising to find that many people will buy rabbits to keep or to use as gifts during the Chinese New Year festivities, says STOMPer Jacelyn.

Such impulse buying is irresponsible and often leads to abandonment and untimely deaths of the rabbits.

According to information provided by the STOMPer, a total of 625 rabbits were abandoned in 1999, which was also a year of the rabbit.

The number was a 116 per cent higher than the number for rabbits abandoned the year before.

Jacelyn says:

"Help spread this message to not buy pet rabbits on impulse this, the Year of the Rabbit.

"Help our furry friends this Chinese New Year".

Chinese are generally superstitious especially towards myths and hearsay beliefs. If thats really the case, please, in this year of the Rabbit, help them and adopt them, not buy or abuse them. AND : SAVE THEM, NOT EAT THEM PLEASE!! Now, these kind acts will truly bring one a fruitful and peaceful Rabbit Year. God is watching our every deeds, so please, incur good karmas for ourselves...

Please read a note from Pure Classical Feng Shui - * Personally I feel no one is not doing him or herself or his/her karma any favour if they end up causing harm or hurt to an innocent animal due to a moment’s impulse or misconception about live rabbits bringing one luck in the year of the Rabbit. So unless you are in it for the long haul or can handle the commitment, please don’t.
