This Urban Jungle
I couldn't grow enough chest hair to be rocker, says STOMP MMSing contest finalist Douglas

A self-proclaimed 'Mat-Rocker', Douglas Chow could sing exactly like Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose before puberty struck and his voice broke.

His career as a 'rocker' also ended when he could not grow enough body hair for the image of a rocker.

These days, he prefers the more mellow sounds of British Pop, which explains his choice of melancholic melody 'Hallelujah' for his live performance at the MMSing Talent Awards grand finals.

Douglas is one of 15 finalists who will perform live at the MMSing Talent Awards 2010 on Jul 28 at the SPH Auditorium.

After a process of public voting and closed-door judging, the stage is set for the shortlisted finalists to battle it out for the top cash prize of $5,000 for Cat A (15 and above), and $2,500 for Cat B (Below 15).

31-year-old Douglas belongs to Category A and is up against 9 other finalists. There are 5 finalists competing in Cat B.

The finalists will be judged by a panel of three judges based on 4 criteria - vocal quality, appearance, creativity in the interpretation of the song and presentation.

Douglas looks set to score on all four counts based on the comments he received for his video submission in the preliminary - STOMPAVAL wrote "Nice voice, like the Gospel vibe. Hallelujah!" and davidding1979 thought Douglas had an "excellent voice".

Watch Douglas juggle the guitar, harmonica and sing all at the same time for his act in the MMSing Talent Awards grand finals on Jul 28. Catch the livecast on RazorTV from 7pm onwards.
