STOMPer Red thinks that there are many S'poreans who treat their maids well and consider them as part of the family, in response to the story of the Filipina maid who inherited $6million from her late employer.
The former maid -- and now millionaire -- came to Singapore in 1984 to take care of Dr Quek Kai Miew's ailing mother and household chores.
When Dr Quek passed away last year, the 47-year-old Filipina inherited $6million from her grateful employer's estate, including an apartment in Leonie Hill.
In the STOMPer's email:
"Despite the stories about S'poreans who treat their maids shabbily, like getting them to tie shoelaces or picking beansprouts from noodles or even ill-treating them, I believe there are many Singaporeans who treat their maids like they are family members.
"This is especially the case when the maid has been with the family for many years and have established a relationship that is more than employer and maid.
"In the $6million maid story, the maid was treated like a daughter by her employer. They also confided in each other.
"I think it's also good that the millionaire Filipina is still humble and thinks of worldly goods as 'fluffy things'."

giving 6m to the maid, you'll never know how she get it. either she's being good, or she's a witch. get what I mean? but anywhoo, she's rich now, and who's want to be her maid? hahaha
Like my god sister, she treat everyone very good in her life. The maid also very good life.

hmm.. can singaporean work as maid? Whoever said working as maid cannot be rich..
Fat hope. Singaporeans only want pride and always compare themselves with others. Working as Maid for them is impossible. See it for yourself, government create thousands of jobs but most Singaporeans turned down.
