Heavy rain turns drains into water fountains at OCBC Centre

STOMPER Wywy came across these "fountains" - water gushing out from under drain covers near OCBC Centre at Boat Quay. The STOMPer was afraid the covers might be dislodged and hurt commuters who use this busy walkway every morning.

Wywy said over the phone:

"I saw this scene at 9am, as I was on my way to work.

"I work at One George Street, in the building beside the OCBC Centre.

"This walkway is usually very busy with commuters because of where it is located.

"Firstly, it's the drop-off area, where vehicles drive through to allow passengers to alight.

"Secondly, many people have to cut across this walkway when making their way to Raffles Place after leaving Clarke Quay MRT Station from the Hong Lim exit.

"I was worried the covers might just shoot up due to the water pressure coming from below them."

Ohh...we were caught off guard.
Ermm..we will install more alarms n continue to "monitor the situation".
Seems like our garbagement got nothing new to say except these patronising answers. Nobody actually ever put these screwed-up stat-boards under the microscope until some drastic event happens.
Sighhzz.. All "jia liao bee n peh gia gu li gang".

Having observed over the years, I noted many things in Singapore were designed without much fore-thinking; many HDB flats now needs Lift Upgrading (so it can cater to growing Aged Population), many roads needs widening (to cater to higher car ownership - despite COE which was intended to curb ownership), the Stop at 2 family planning policy of old now results in the import of and encouragement of foreigners to contribute in terms of birth rate & population bulk, and with a growing population, PUB didn't anticipate larger trash/litter output, and with rising Sea Levels & climate changes they could not foresee that drainage systems needed widenining ??? God Bless Us All...
