STOMPer Eyes_Wide_Open was stunned when he went to the K Box outlet in Orchard Road, which offered songs under the 'Philippinese' language.

Said the STOMPer:

"My friends and I were out on a karaoke night at K Box in Orchard Road when we started looking at their song list.

"We were quite amazed to see Filipino songs labelled as 'Philippinese' under the language song selection.

"People in Vietnam speaks Vietnamese but people in the Philippines definitely doesn't speak 'Philippinese'."

I hope you're referring to girls in Manila and not the ones here in Singapore. Or at least, not the ones you see at Lucky Plaza on Sundays hahaha.

The Philippine national language is called Filipino. It was called Tagalog (from Tagalog dialect) in the not so distant past, but to pacify growing rivalries between other major dialects, it was later relabeled as Filipino--now adding alphabets such as C and F, etc., just to make it a tad bit different from Tagalog. So, in a nutshell, the label should say 'Filipino', and not Philippinese. There is no such word.

Anyhow, this post should be on Singapore Sotongs. :)
