The police have released a photofit of the man, suspected of slashing two women in the Yishun area in the span of five days, based on descriptions provided by the victims.
In response, STOMPer CP hopes that all Singaporeans remain alert and keep a lookout for suspicious looking people who resemble the man in the picture.
The police have linked the brutal attacks, committed on January 29 and February 2, to the same suspect.
He is said to be of tanned complexion, and is a local Chinese man in his thirties.
He was last seen wearing a light beige or brown T-shirt, black pants and slippers.
While the first victim was attacked at the lift lobby of Block 172 Yishun Avenue 7, the second woman was attacked while jogging near the park connector.
As both victims were being observed for at least 15 minutes before their assailants struck, CP hopes to remind all women to be aware of people who might be observing or following them.
It is up to Singaporeans to keep the city safe, he says.
STOMPer CP says in an email dated February 10:
“I hope everyone can take a look at this photofit and be aware of people in their surroundings.
“Residents in Yishun should also take extra care and keep a lookout for any loiterers or people behaving suspiciously.
“We must all work together to make sure Singaporeremains safe to live in. Don’t take Singapore’s security for granted.
“Women must be alert and stay away from strangers who might be observing or following us.
“Let’s make sure this man doesn’t get away or have the chance to harm anyone else. If we’re not careful, the next victim could be you or someone you know.”
