Rise of cheating spouses leads to more business for private detectives

STOMPer busybody spotted this advertisement targeted at wives or husbands who suspect that their spouse might be cheating on them. Hence, he wonders if the number of cheating cases has risen.

A rise in the number of cheating cases would explain the popularity of private investigators (PIs) and how open the advertising for such spying practices has become.

STOMPer busybody says in an email dated January 12:

"This picture was taken while I was driving along Boon Lay Way near the MRT track at Jurong Lake.

"I was surprised to see this taxi in front of me with the advertisement: Catch Cheating Spouse.

"When I checked the internet, I found no less than 50 companies operated by different private investigators (PIs ).

"It will cost you $300 per hour if you employ a PI to track your cheating boyfriend, husband or wife.

"The PIs will also sell you equipment and spy software so that you can trace the websites visited by your spouse.

"As there is a sudden rise of cheating spouses, these PIs are making good money since they are gainfully employed by worried spouses.

"Is this the tip of the giant iceberg?"
