Are women in Singapore dressed too revealingly? An elderly woman was recently arrested for caning women in public for wearing shorts. STOMPer Disturbed feels she has a point, though her methods were extreme.

The elderly woman in Ang Moh Kio had been stalking women wearing shorts there, using a cane to hit them and saying that women should not wear shorts. The apparently mentally-disturbed woman was eventually subdued and arrested after a tussle on Thursday (Oct 13).

Here's what the STOMPer wrote in an email today (Oct 17):

"I read about the elderly woman caning girls in shorts in Ang Moh Kio in today's papers.

"Although she has no right to cane them, it is true that women these days are dressed too skimpily.

"Everywhere you go these days you see young girls in very revealing shorts that show half their butts. Their outfits can be quite unsightly, and are more appropriate worn at home rather than in public places.

"The woman may have reacted in an extreme manner, but she does have a point."
