Kudos to SPCA for helping abused and abandoned animals

STOMPer Eric says a big thank you to the SPCA workers who took in an abandoned puppy which he found.

He appreciates the effort SPCA workers take to provide for the abandoned animals that arrive there.

Eric says:

"Some time back I read some articles criticising SPCA.

"I was quite disturbed as I am an animal lover. Recently, I had a chance to visit SPCA as I found a lost/abandoned pedigree puppy.

"Since I already owned 2 dogs of my own, I was unable to provide a shelter for the puppy and decided to bring it down to SPCA.

"We were concerned with what SPCA would do to the dog and spoke to a dog handler, Richard, about that.

"He told us about the plight of abandoned and abused animals in S'pore. He also talked about his job scope and the perils he faced everyday when he's out in the field rescuing animals.

"My family and I were really moved and impressed with the people working in SPCA.

"I think we have to give thanks to the team of fantastic folks at SPCA.

"They are truly the unsung heroes, who work behind the scenes, roll up their sleeves and get down and dirty to rescue animals.

"Big thank you to Richard and team!"

People don't like others to abandon them and yet heartlessly dump their pets, is not putting themselves in their pet's shoes :(

stasiac_i: The SPCA will not do anything to dogs who are not adopted within a month. They will still be at the adoption area, as long as, they will adopted. One example I can quote was Handsome and Boy, who are x-Corgi. They are still at adoption areaa, despite being there for more than 2 yrs~

AsteroidS: That's so untrue of what AsteroidS says. SPCA don't kill older dogs, they still put older dogs to adoption if they are perfectly healthy. In any case, if the dogs are suffering in severe illnesses, the SPCA have no choice but to put them to slp, so as to shorten their period of suffering!

There was once, an 8yrs old maltese was put on adoption. It was perfectly healthy, except for some mild skin problem.

So AsteroidS, don't anyhow jump into conclusion they kill older dogs!

Ah~ I'd rather not QUOTE the previous comment on 'KILLING' the older dogs.
Rather you should see it in another way.
It's called 'reliving of the older dogs pains' not killing it!

stasiac_i: that's so true! I stand on that principle too!Donate sincerely as u know it's for a good cause. Beyond that, it's not within our control. (i've friends who r complaining away that their money is being misused and condemn all the charity organisations). -.-

hmm pet farm? and they'll ended in puppy mills, no?coz puppy mills ain't better. yes they re at least alive, but not in a good, proper care and maintenance. from what i know, they are caged, mate and breed. with really no proper living surroundings. once old, they're thrashed away.

I heard ASD is a better choice (that so far i know of). they don't believe in putting animals to sleep so they frequently look for foster parents everytime they found abandon animals.Again, not government funded thus they can't afford to take TOO many (like SPCA?) animals as there aren't as much foster parents comparing to the daily abandoned animals.

To gracesccc, Thanks for e kind advice 2 all of us. As a business owner who makes yearly contributions 2 a few organisations, tat advise have been drummed in2 my ears countless time by frens. Yes, there r a few greedy men at e top.

Let me share my thoughts wif all of u - Even though i may not know where e money i donate goes 2, whether 4 gd or bad use, I juz donate. I've done all i can 2 help, even though its monetary n not volunteer work(im an extreme introvert), i feel blessed 2 be able 2 help. If they use the money 4 e right purpose, then, more power to them. If they use it for the wrong purpose, I'll leave tat to the Almighty.
