Fortune teller advises reader to be hooker?

STOMPer xiong is outraged to find a fortune teller advising a reader to 'put aside her pride and earn quick bucks with her youth and beauty' in a local magazine.

The highlighted paragraph translates to the following:

"Ms Wen, you have 2 choices: firstly, when you're young, you can learn a skill or area of knowledge that can become your livelihood.

"Secondly, you can put aside your pride and earn a quick buck with your youth and beauty. Don't think about marriage or love, but only think about money. Save up and you can retire early."

In the STOMPer's email dated Oct 4:

"In a local magazine, the fortune teller gave her customer a second option to become a hooker or something like that.

"Even if the fortune teller has no moral standard or sense of right or wrong, surely the magazine's editor can't agree with her advice?

"Has our society really sunk so low that nobody thinks it is wrong to earn quick cash through prostitution?"

Interpretation is a very subjective communication evil :P

Suppose this happened during an interview between a male interviewer and a young female applicant for a Sales Executive position; towards the end of the interview...
Male interviewer: "OK, just one last question before we call it a day. How far are you willing to go in order to get the job done?"
Female applicant: "Errr... what you mean?"

Interpretation of that last question is very tricky. While it could mean how much effort and overtime she is willing to sacrifice for the job (a clean and simple question), it could also imply whether the lady is willing to put aside ethical and moral values to secure the deals.

How would most people have interpreted that question? :-)

yo dude, it doesn't directly point that she should be a hooker; its more like asking her to be less egoistic/proud. You should brush up your chinese, or read the whole article

It is up to individual to consult or believe in the words of the fortune master. However, when the advise lead to something bad or immoral then we must exercise our own wisdom and not be gullible. This remind me of the a fortune master (or person claim to be possessed by deity) call Adrian Lim who was convicted and executed for killing two children in the eighties. In addition, he has trick countless women into having sex with him and parting away their monies. You can read about his exploit on the internet. I am not saying that all fortune teller or master is fake or bad people just be careful when the advice lead to something that is not right.

Lady, it doesn't outright state that "YOU SHOULD PUT ASIDE YOUR PRIDE AND BECOME A HOOKER". It could mean for you to be a model. Don't be so quick to assume.

Why believe in fortune tellers? If they really know how to advise people, why are they still have to be fortune tellers. They should be millionaires. IF they really can tell the past and future, why they cannot even turn a white hair to black or vice visa?
