The NUS Asean scholar who posted photos and videos of his girlfriend and himself having sex on his blog now faces disciplinary action, but has said that he does not have the courage to enter Singapore any time soon, as he feels he is "not ready to be recognised on the streets."
The 24-year-old Malaysian, Alvin Tan JyeYee, had uploaded photographs and videos of his 23-year-old girlfriend named Vivian and himself having sex on his blog. The blog had caught the attention of a STOMPer, who had chanced upon the website through facebook.
According to a report in The Straits Times, the law student now faces an NUS disciplinary inquiry, while the Ministry of Education has issued a statement calling his actions offensive. Mr Tan is also currently not receiving funds for his scholarship because he is in Malaysia on a leave of absence to start his own firm.
He was also advised to take down the offensive posts by NUS, which he has since complied with, saying that the blog was receiving a lot of 'unwanted attention'. His Malaysian girlfriend's parents had also become aware of the blog, he said.
Although he says he intends to attend the meeting with the university's board of discipline, he added that he did not have the courage to enter Singapore any time soon, as he feels he is "not ready to be recognised on the streets."
