Parents, teach your kids to obey school rules and don't interfere with teachers

STOMPer Esther feels parents here should do more to educate their children to obey school rules and not interfere with discipline while at school.

The STOMPer commented:

"It would be a weird and sad world if teachers were to undermine the authority of parents at home.

"As citizens of Singapore, we have to obey laws. If we break them, we would be penalised.

"As a mother, you should educate your children to obey the school rules. At home, you are the role model and educator.

"Leave the discipline to the schools and don't interfere with their authority.

"As parents, you should educate and nurture your children to be good citizens of Singapore who have full respect for our laws and not to behave like spoilt brats who defy school rules and our laws.

"Do you blame the school or the parents for raising teenagers who have no respect for discipline and authority?

"Ask your own conscience."

kids sometimes need ours attention but sometimes we might over react so as a parents we act willing listen but not always immediate into the action after all decision is yours n do remember dont influence by others to make decision... as for mine I hope my kids grow as ordinary resposible person rather be a superstars superlatives person....♥ kids

If I were the teachers of that loser kid who cried for having his hair cut, I wouldn't bother about him anymore. He can fail his PSLE for all I care.

every family has their own way of teaching and so does a school. kids are being stuck in the middle and can't really do anything.

I applaud the minister for sending the right message. The teacher did the right thing. There is a minimum decorum in going for exams, especially an oral exam. The mother was not thinking right. I would like to assume that the teacher w wanted the child to maintain a decent look when meeting the oral examiners, and it is a national exam. He should show himself and the school some respect as he is wearing the school's badge. He represents the school. If he went out to work and meet clients and he is my staff, he'll I would cut his hair, or fire him outright if he redused

Rules are not rules made up for fun. In the old days ministry of health used to come to my school to check our hair for lice and look at our general health. Children play hard and sweat alot. Sometimes by the end of a school day, and I am not talking about 5pm, more like 12pm, I would be stinking of sweat from playing and PE. Sure, to some hair rules are stupid. Well it depends what sort of children you want to groom up. When they become adults, if the parents can tell me they can walk in to an interview with messy long hair or even stylized rock star hairstyles, and hope to secure a high paying job, then these parents need a reality check. I hope that the school which I send my son to would teach him not only academics but how to be a gentleman or lady. How to obey rules and no doubt they may learn how to bend the rules, this is part of learning life skills! but never will I allow my children to break the rules or defend them if they get caught.
