Several ex-students of ITE lecturer Michael Tay Jau Jen -- alleged to have molested a student before she jumped to her death -- have since claimed that he had also touched them or made inappropriate comments while they were training with him.
Chiu Ka Ying, 16, had jumped from the sixth storey of ITE College East's School of Business and Services on Sep 6 last year. Before she died, she had alleged that Mr Tay had molested her when she went to him for counselling.
Mr Tay had admitted to having been sexually intimate with the girl but had insisted that it was 'purely consensual'. Ka Ying, who is of Indian ethnicity but adopted by a Chinese family, confided in a friend that that he had behaved intimately with her more than once but less than 5 times.
Another former student who had been part of the cheerleading team that Mr Tay had founded, Team Genesis, has since come forward to say that Mr Tay had groped her buttocks while demonstrating a cheerleading stunt three years ago. He was supposed to put his palm facing up for her to sit on, but had grabbed her buttocks instead.
Another ex-student, freelance actress Ms Nur Shafikah Rahim, had claimed that Mr Tay was very 'touchy' and had often gazed intently at her thighs, making comments like 'your thighs are so toned now, girl."
