After a STOMPer noticed algae on the ceiling outside NTUC FairPrice Bishan, NTUC FairPrice has confirmed that the algae is indeed due to the condensation of their refrigeration units but assures that food quality and safety are not affected.
Said the NTUC FairPrice’s spokesperson (Sep 12):
"FairPrice assures safety and quality of food not affected
"We refer to the STOMP posting 'Algae on ceiling outside NTUC possible sign of leaking fridge in outlet?' (STOMP, 6 September 2012).
"We thank STOMPer Bishan Resident for highlighting this matter to us and would like to assure our customers that the algae does not affect nor compromise the safety and quality of products sold at our store in Bishan.
"Nonetheless, our investigations into this issue have revealed condensation of our refrigeration units as the cause of the algae formation. Our contractors will be rectifying this matter.
