She told her ex-boyfriend that being content with a future salary of $3,000 a month was not good enough for her. She also says all of her three local ex-boyfriends were all very childish and dependent.
That is why Miss Ang, 21, is now dating a 25-year-old German guy she met at the smoking area outside a Clarke Quay pub. He approached her and started a conversation, a bold step, compared to the likes of Singapore men.
Commenting that the term Sarong Party Girl, or SPG, is rude as it means that the Asian girl is after white men for their money, Miss Ang says not all Caucasian men are as rich as we might think. However, they are more ambitious, see girls who dress up and go to parties as 'outgoing', and can meet her expectations, unlike local men.
Another woman with an expat boyfriend also added, "With local guys, it's always the same old thing. You go on date after date, and you get married. It gets boring. At this age, you want to go out and explore, and I find that I can do that with expats."
