STOMPer Mahi noticed that cars had to wait 45 minutes to get a spot in Tekka Market's carpark. Though there were lots of empty lots, they were reserved for season parking ticket holders.
Said the STOMPer:
"Recently I discovered that vehicles visiting Tekka Market along Buffalo Road have to queue longer than before, sometimes up to 45 minutes of waiting time.
"This is thanks to a newly implemented carpark system which allows 'Resident with season parking only' to enter a section of the carpark.
"While the vehicles were queuing at a long stretch along Buffalo Road, I observed that there were more than 50 empty parking lots inside the carpark.
"There is no logic and it wastes precious time to wait to enter the carpark no matter if you are the resident, shop owner or shopper.
"Not to mention that this road is also frequented by taxis which pick up large numbers of shoppers in the weekend.
"This is an urgent request, the authority MUST review this system soon as I forsee that there will be major traffic problem when we are near the Deepavali festive period.
"As a frequent visitor to Tekka Market, the old fashion way of 'coupon system' is the best solution for all.
"Or at least take away the problem creator of 'Reserved for Resident with season parking only'.
"Pay a visit to Buffalo Road, Tekka Market during weekends and you will understand what I mean."
