Maid caught on CCTV allegedly abusing toddler

A couple have filed a police report over the alleged mistreatment of their two-year-old daughter by their maid.

According to a report in AsiaOne, the girl's father, Mr Tan Qing Yuan, 37, told The Straits Times that the incidents were captured on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera he had installed in his home.

Mr Tan, a driver, claimed that the first incident happened two days after the maid from Myanmar was employed. He said the video footage showed the maid, Ms Siang Nei Thluai, 24, slamming the fridge door and injuring the toddler, according to the Shin Min Daily News.

Mr Tan also said that she mistreated the girl two to three times in an hour on another occasion.

In the video clips he showed The Straits Times, Ms Siang was seen closing the fridge door with one hand while carrying an infant in another arm.

The fridge door moves a few times before a toddler appears from behind it and follows her.

Another clip shows the toddler lying down in a playpen being forcefully pulled up by the shoulder.

However according to Mr Tan, the police have said that there is still a lack of evidence and asked him to gather more evidence.

A police spokesperson confirmed that a report was made last week and are investigating the case. He added that what the investigating officer told Mr Tan is confidential.

Helo kittybond. Im not a civil servant or the man in blue. Instead of just reading and surfing the internet, I suggest u go to Subordinate court and listen to a child abuse proceedings. After the hearing is over, u will agree that ur mentality is shallow but not stupid. U will realise that there is a Big difference between u and those who study and practise the law. Simply put, the police know the law better than u. Don disgrace urself by quoting raw materials from outside source. As a beginner, u should start with Arrestable and Non compoundable offence. Child abuse will be too complicated for u to understand. Im not insulting ur intel but it is a true facts perceived from they way u present urself!

@kittybond. Tell me what u understand from your research reading. Can you tell why if I slapped u and ur son/ daughter 3 times inside ur own house, the police whom u called cannot put me under arrest. Confused? When ur shallow thinking thought that the police is doing nothing, you are actually embarrassing urself telling every Sporeans u are a stupid fool. What u are only reading the general caption of the Penal code and not knowing the emphasis of the sub clauses. Still confused? If u look at the video closely, there is no assault at all! You are a biggest clown in town. Did the maid inflict pain to the 2 yr old child? No. Did the child cry in pain? No. Any visible injury sustain by the child? No. I can understand ur dislike for the police due to many unknown reasons. But don embarrass urself just to prove a case which u yourself are not familiar with.

Hi kittybond

Firstly I'm not the "man in blue".
Secondly I just can't stand the way she treat the little girl this way.
Lastly if we are an employer, we ill treat those workers and we'll get sentence by justice what about her? As mention by the media the little girl is just only 2 yrs old can she bear all the action that the maid done to her as shown @ youtube video? Can you said that this would affect her in future?
