STOMPer Andy was give 8 stitches after he was cut badly when the McDonald's Coca Cola glass he was washing suddenly broke.
The Coca Cola glasses were given out during a McDonald's promotion in Singapore.
The STOMPer elaborates:
"I have a few McDonald's Coca Cola glasses from last year's promotion. At the end of June, my son started to use them.
"When I washed the glasses, I could feel that the glass is very thin. I was washing a glass with a sponge when suddenly, it cracked and cut my hand resulting in me getting 8 stitches.
"I sent a complaint to McDonald's and they referred to their insurance. The response was that any glass would break if not handled carefully. I agree, but not during washing with a soft sponge.
"I then checked their facebook page and found many comments that the glass was too thin. I also found out form friends that someone got cut on the lip and the glass breaks easily. The insurance company rejected the claims, and they were not able to show the technical specifications of the glasses.
"Coincidentally, The Straits Times showed an article of the recall of flawed McDonald's Coca Cola glasses in Japan. A McDonald's Singapore spokesperson mentioned in the article that the glasses are safe to use.
"I was upset with the insurance response. They did not have any sample, yet they were able to respond that the glasses are within specification. I personally like the design, but how many Singaporeans have used the glass or just display it as decoration? How many have broken it?"

People in Singapore need to take note of our consumer rights. If commercial folks give out (whether free or paid) unsafe products or products of poor quality, we have a RIGHT to seek recourse!!!
Know your rights and fight the power!!
