An SCDF spokesperson said that two men were rescued from a gondola which had stalled on the eighth storey of a building at 80 Raffles Place, at about 5.10pm today (Aug 21).
Said the spokesperson:
"At 5.10pm, SCDF received a call from a member of public informing that a gondola was stuck from height of the building at 80 Raffles Place.
"Two Fire Bikes, two Fire Engines, one Ambulance and three Support Appliances were sent to the location.
"Upon arrival, the crew found that a gondola had stalled at the exterior (8th floor) of the building. Two men were in the gondola.
"SCDF rescuers first secured the two subjects with safety lines.
"A ladder was extended from a window on the 8th floor into the gondola.
"The ladder was secured at both ends; to the gondola and to the interior of the building.
"A DART rescuer proceeded into the gondola and guided the workers safely into the 8th floor window via the ladder.
"The rescue operation was completed within 40 minutes.
"The subjects were assessed by the paramedic at site and were not conveyed to hospital."
