Sad fate of former champion athletes after retirement

These athletes from China were once famous champions, who brought their country fame and glory by winning medals at international events. But, after retirement, they face a life of hardship and struggle to make ends meet.

Some athletes retired due to age, or injury.

But it is almost impossible for them to find a steady job after being a professional athlete.

They resort to finding jobs like security guards, dormitory workers or odd job labourers.

Some of these athletes never recover from their injuries or illnesses, and even end up dying due to the lack of proper medication or treatment.
