Missing NSF's body found in Brunei river

SOURCE: The Straits Times

The body of Lance-Corporal (LCP) Muhammad Fahrurrazi Bin Salim, 20, was found at 2.55am today (Aug 14) in the Sungai Batu Apoi river in Temburong, Brunei.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) in a press statement.

One of the search parties from the Singapore Armed Forces found LCP Fahrurrazi's body about 200m from where he was first reported missing.

His body will be flown back this afternoon in a Republic of Singapore Air Force C-130 transport plane for a military funeral in Singapore.

On behalf of Mindef and SAF, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen has written a letter to the family of the deceased expressing deepest condolences for their loss.

Mindef is assisting the family in their time of grief.

LCP Fahrurrazi, a coxswain, disappeared from his convoy of four boats on Sunday.

He had been involved in supporting the safety of a water-crossing segment of a jungle training exercise in Sungai Batu Apoi in Temburong.

A full investigation on the incident will be conducted.

SAF should learn from the Air Force and the Navy about Educating Commanders in " SAFETY" and Believing the Culture of SAFETY

Well, might also revisit the Core Values, As ARMY Didn't mention abt safety at all...

RIP Soldier !

Why was he alone in the boat?. Should there have been a buddy system in place?

Even wearing a life jacket, being a well trained swimmer and having a good weather still has a possibility of drowning. Maybe his limbs were tangled in vegetation or he got cramps. Many different possibilities, so we have to be careful at all times. Just saying
