The 67-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz who had reversed at high-speed into five people at Chong Pang market yesterday (Aug 6) had reportedly suffered a stroke previously.
According to an article in the Straits Times, the Chinese evening papers had reported that the man had recently suffered a stroke.
The driver had lost control of his car while reversing in a carpark at Block 102 Yishun Avenue 5, hitting a white Toyota Camry before mounting the pavement.
The car finally stopped when it hit a lamp post after crashing 20m into the walkway, after it hit several passers-by.
Two men and three women were hurt in the incident and were sent to Khoo Teck Puat hospital for treatment. Three have since been discharged, while the other two were warded.
