STOMPer Justin sent in this video of a fast talking auctioneer that he saw at an auction at Jurong East MRT station.
Such auctions are a common sight in heartland areas during the Hungry Ghost Festival, and are often used to raise money for temples.
Winning an auction at these events is believed by many to be auspicious.
Said the STOMPer:
"This took place at the pasamalam near Jurong East MRT station, at about 9pm last Saturday.
"There was a huge crowd at the auction centre, so my wife and I drop by as we were curious.
"The booth was actually an auction with various ornaments and the auctioneer was speaking like lightning!
"My wife and I were laughing, and so were the people around us.
"However, the laughter is more of disbelief and admiration as we have never seen someone speak at this speed!
"I have been to many pasamalam before and I have seen such booths.
"However this is the first time this auctioneer caught my eye.
"My thoughts is that he must have had lots of practice, as this is no mean feat.
"His pace of speech is also good at stirring up the emotions as it gives the bidders excitement too.
"And of course, there were many people at that booth as everyone heard his speed of speech, and came to take a closer look.
"In fact there were no chairs left and many like me have to stand and watch instead of sitting."
