STOMPer Lee was at Yishun this morning when he saw a Mercedes reverse into the pedestrian walkway at the market and crash into a Toyota. 5 people were later brought to the hospital.
The STOMPer said over the phone:
"I was at Block 102 Chong Pang (in Yishun) around 8.20am when this happened.
"The area is rather populated and this morning, an accident happened.
"A Mercedes driver was reversing and parking his vehicle when I think he reversed too much when he was almost done with parking.
"This resulted in him hitting a Toyota and he reversed into the pedestrian walkway.
"A newspaper seller (seated, light blue polo tee), a woman and another man were injured as a result. Some passers-by were also frightened, and one woman was so shocked she couldn't walk (making a phone call, sleeveless top).
"Later the paramedics arrived to tend to the injured. The traffic police also spoke to the driver of the Mercedes."
STOMPer Tey said:
"Car accident in Chong Pang which caused a few injuries to a few passers-by.
"The driver is believed to have a stroke and yet is permitted to drive.
"He had gotten into his car and was about to leave, when he apparently hit the wrong pedal."
STOMP contacted the Police and a spokesperson said:
"We got a call today at 8.15am informing us of an accident at the carpark of Block 102, Yishun Avenue 5.
"Upon Police's arrival, it was established that a car had collided into two stalls in the vicinity of the said location.
"Five persons were conveyed conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
"Police investigations are ongoing."
