Was it a case of broken slippers, refusing to get new ones or simply just personal preference? STOMPer Shane spotted a man who travelled from Dhoby Ghaut to Tanah Merah barefooted.
"A decently dressed man was spotted on the circle line train, travelling towards Dhoby Ghaut at around 10pm on 16th July.
"He sat across the seat where I was. All seemed fine about him except he was not wearing shoes!
"The whole time he was surfing on his phone, not giving a care to the rest on the train who was giving him weird looks.
"He alighted at Paya Lebar station and proceeded to the East West line platform, barefoot.
"Walking nonchalantly as he stepped onto the escalator, that must have hurt, considering the grooves on the escalator stairs.
"Nearing the platform, he ran onto the train heading towards Pasir Ris.
"He drew more stares and queer looks on the train but proceeded to behave like nothing was wrong.
"It was as if this was his usual routine, walking around barefoot, feeling the icy cold ground beneath his feet.
"He finally alighted at Tanah Merah, which I presumed was where he stayed.
"Could it a case of broken slippers, refusing to get new ones or simply just personal preference? Only he knows."
