Downtown East was transformed into a gathering of colourful costumed characters in wigs and fancy clothes at the annual Cosfest XI over the weekend.
Over 10,000 Japanese anime and manga fans thronged D'Marquee at the two-day event's 11th consecutive year that featured anime karaoke, the Cosfest Cure Cosplay Grand Walk and the Asia Cosplay Meet Championship, which was the main highlight.
The Championship saw top cosplayers from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and China take to the stage to lay claim to the titles of the best cosplayers in Asia.
The first-ever Cosfest Cure Cosplay Grand Walk also featured cosplay star Reika Arikawa, from Japan, who busied herself signing autographs for her fans while trying to keep her trademark icy cool persona.
Fans of anime and manga merchandise could also browse through booths set up by budding amateur manga and anime artistes selling their art pieces or cosplay enthusiasts peddling cosplay accessories.
The event was jointly organised by Downtown East and the Singapore Cosplay Club.
