A taxi driver who paid $100 for the sexual services of a Vietnamese girl was jailed for three months on Monday.
Chong Heng Kow, 53, admitted to one count of paying $100 to the 16-year-old girl at Fragrance Ruby Hotel in Geylang on July 3 last year.
A district court heard that a Vietnamese national Ngo Tien, 31, told the girl on July 2 last year that her husband, Seng Swee Meng, 41, would arrange for his friend to take her out.
She also said that she need not collect the money first as the man was her husband's friend.
The next day, Ngo Tien called up the victim and told her to meet Seng and Chong at the coffeeshop near Lorong 42 Geylang.
When she arrived, Chong took her to the hotel and paid her $100 for sex.
Seng, a pimp, is serving five years' imprisonment while his wife is on the run.
A second charge against Chong was considered during his sentencing.
Chong, who is married with two children, could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined for commercial sex with a person under 18 years of age.
