Singaporean newlyweds killed in New Zealand accident

A Singaporean couple was killed in an accident in New Zealand on Friday (June 15). The area on which they were killed has been dubbed 'Waikato's blackest stretch of road', because at least 30 fatal crashes have occurred there since 2001.

STOMPer Lim wrote:

"Two dead in accident in Bombay Hills, New Zealand. They are Singaporeans newlyweds.

"They went for their honeymoon and were killed in the accident.

"Family was informed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the accident.

"They are missed by many."

According to news reports, the accident took place near Auckland, and involved the couple's car and a van. Occupants of the van were uninjured.

The road around the scene of the accident on SH 2 at Mangatawhiri was closed for several hours.
